New Mobile App Available to Residents for Reporting Public Works Related Issues

The Department of Municipal Services has a new way for citizens to report non-emergency issues in their area, MaintStar’s Mobile Citizen. Residents can locate an issue via GPS, take a photo, add a message and sent a request directly to the responsible department. This flexible software allows employees to customize and manage common issues they receive through their department, monitor each request’s progress and follow up with the residents requesting them.  About the app: “MaintStar, a leading developer of asset maintenance & management software for the public sector created the new “Mobile Citizen” App. The new MaintStar App allows municipalities to better connect with citizens and allows them to quickly notify the proper departments of recent non-emergency incidents or potential problem conditions. “Mobile Citizen” can be downloaded to any Android or Apple smartphone, and allows for the swift reporting of a number of situations that may require service from our public works department.  A service request can be generated and reported by residents for a myriad of problems, including potholes, tree issues, streetlight outages and flooding, among others.  The information, including photo and exact GPS location, is then automatically sent to our department Service Request System.  MaintStar offers one of the most complete and sophisticated solutions for the total Asset Maintenance & Management of Public Works and Utilities infrastructure.”- MaintStar Users will be required to sign up with valid contact information to submit a service request.  Anonymous requests must be called into the appropriate departments.  The service request app is available on Apple’s App Store and on Google Play.  Residents can also submit service requests on the web.  If you have questions regarding service requests in the Town of Andover, please contact the Department of Municipal Services at 978-623-8700, or email at dpw@andoverma.gov.
