The patriotic song America was written in 1831 by Samuel Francis Smith while attending the Andover Theological Seminary. Andover is often referred to as the "Home of America".

Patriotic Holiday Committee

A nine member board appointed by the Town Manager, the Patriotic Holiday Committee assists the Town Veterans Services Director in planning and carrying out all patriotic and civic holidays and observances. The Committee has primary responsibility for all such occasions except for the July Fourth celebration.
