  1. Open Studio Sessions with Sumi ink Club

    January 24, 2018, 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM @ Addison Gallery of American Art

Draw on the gallery walls with the artists of Sumi Ink Club?! Employing the brush and black ink of traditional sumi ink wash painting, the club, founded in 2005 by Los Angeles-based artists Sarah Rara and Luke Fischbeck, produces work in open-to-the-public meetings in which people of all ages and skill are invited to contribute to a collaborative drawing. Using group drawing as a means to generate social interactions and sustain community connections, it is the artists’ hope that each drawing reflects the diversity of participants as well as the conversations and exchanges that occurred during its making. The mural created during these sessions will remain on view at the Addison through the summer. Additional activities for children will be available during the open studio times.
