October 17, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Cochran Chapel, Phillips Academy
On Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m., the Phillips Academy Music Department will present Grammy®-winning Conspirare, an internationally acclaimed choir founded in Austin, Texas in 1991. As part of the Kayden Guest Artist Series, they will perform Considering Matthew Shepard by Craig Hella Johnson, a three-part oratorio composed to be a thought provoking and compassionate response to the murder of Matthew Shepard. In 1998, Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left to die in a lonely field. The Washington Post calls the impact of this piece “immediate, profound and, at times, overwhelming.”
Conspirare’s mission is to engage the power of music to change lives. It has a reputation for “expanding the boundaries of choral performance” (Wall Street Journal).
This event is free and open to the public but tickets are required. The concert will take place in the Cochran Chapel located on the Phillips Academy campus.
Cochran Chapel is handicapped accessible.
