In this talk for both students and parents, Andover resident, Peter Alpers, will address what it means to be a strong writer, why writing well is so important, how one can become a strong writer, and when that process should begin. Peter has a bedrock conviction about the college essay, which looms so ominously in the mind of every college aspirant. It's a fact of life. You can either panic over it or prepare for it. By preparing for it now, you won't find yourself panicking over it later. Former owner of Alpers Fine Art for 17 years, Peter Alpers is launching "Get Writing," a specialized tutoring practice geared to helping young adults strengthen their writing skills and develop confidence in their writing. He has taught composition at the college level and has worked as a writing coach/tutor with high school and college students, as well as corporate executives and small business owners. He served on a college admissions committee, where he reviewed hundreds of essays.
