The Plant & Facilities Department provides scheduled and routine maintenance to all Town and School buildings, building equipment, Parks & Grounds, Cemetery & Forestry, traffic signals & Town owned street lighting. The department maintains the Town fuel depot, and all Town owned vehicles & motorized equipment and manages rentals in the old Town Hall, athletic fields and school gyms and auditoriums. The department is also responsible for managing all major building related capital projects and capital improvements for all areas of responsibility.

The Department is organized as follows:

Central Office Administration

Director, Customer Service / Work Order Center, Four Division Superintendents & support staff.

Buildings Divisions

Building Maintenance Division [Superintendent Ed Ataide] and the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Division [Superintendent Ralph Knight]. Includes all maintenance trades in support of all Town and School buildings. There is presently 1.35 million square feet of building space consisting of six elementary schools, three middle schools, Andover High School, the Town Library, Public Safety Center, two Fire Sub Stations, the Town & School Office building, Old Town Hall, the Town Yard Complex, Cemetery buildings and other support buildings.

The Town owns and maintains all Antique street lights located in Shawsheen Village and Downtown. Call (978) 623-8288 to report problems. All remaining street lights are owned and maintained by NGRID. To report problems call: (800) 465-1212 (24- hours a day, 365 days a year).

Parks & Grounds, Forestry and Cemetery Divisions

[Superintendent Randy Pickersgill, Telephone: (978) 623-8282] - responsible for maintaining all Town owned parks and grounds, School & Town athletic fields, public shade trees [Tree Warden - Randy Pickersgill, Telephone: (978) 623-8282], and the Spring Grove Cemetery [Working Foreman - Dan Verrington, Telephone: (978) 623-8440 or (978) 623-8280].

Bald Hill recycling Facility - Located on High Plain Road. Yard Waste limited tograss clippings and leaves open to Andover residents. Walk in, permitted year round. Gates open for limited hours spring and fall. Call (978) 623-8282 for information.

Facilities Services Division

[Supervisor Lisa Campbell, Telephone: (978) 623-8450] - Responsible for all Town custodial operations as well as scheduling and renting school gyms, & auditoriums, the Town House, town and school fields to non-profit groups, private organizations, individuals, and Town & School activities. Note: the Andover High School - Collins Center, Field house, Gymnasium and athletic fields are scheduled through school administration.

Vehicle Maintenance Division

[Superintendent Joe Favreau] Provides maintenance to all Town vehicles and heavy equipment for Police, Fire, DPW, Plant & Facilities and other departments. Materials Manager for all supplies, equipment, vehicle purchases and fuel purchases.
