The Information Systems Division has become increasingly responsible for computerized data used in municipal operations including financial records, word processing documents, electronic transmission and other varied electronic files. A recently created wide area network connects PCs in the Town Office building, Water Treatment Plant and Old Town Hall to centralized file and application servers. E-mail and Internet access are also provided via the network.

Financial application support and modification continues to be a major function of this division. The centralization of PC licensing, and hardware/software purchases, have also become important functions. Maintaining the integrity and improving the accessibility of all data on the network are priorities, especially since many more users now rely on the centralized systems for daily operations.

The Information Systems Division supports all users of the network and strives to meet the many diversified needs of town government. Currently, most departments/divisions use Information Systems resources in some capacity. This support will continue to increase as more employees are provided access to the network and as more data and applications become part of the network.
