The results are in...Andover is a great place to live and raise a family!
The Town received a total of 672 responses from the 1,200 Andover households that were randomly selected to participate in the 2008 Andover Citizens Survey. This represents an extraordinary 56% response rate!
The results of the survey were very positive overall. Andover’s residents believe their community offers an excellent quality of life. The town is seen as a safe and attractive place to live and raise children. Housing, dining, and shopping options are considered areas of concern though. Public schools, municipal services, location, and property values are the things that make Andover most attractive to its residents. Andover is also a town where levels of voting and community engagement are high. In terms of quality of Town services, the schools and essential services (fire, police, EMS, trash collection) are highly rated. The primary areas of weakness in service delivery are streets, sidewalks and transportation. Interactions with Town officials is seen as very positive.
The Town will be using the results of the 2008 Andover Citizens Survey for various purposes, such as: measuring municipal service performance and citizen satisfaction; identifying community-wide issues and problems; strategic planning and goal-setting; improving programs and services; setting budgetary priorities; and enhancing communications.
Thank you to all the Andover residents who responded to the survey!
