Greetings from the Town Manager

Welcome to the Town of Andover’s new web-based service portal – gateway to your town government. It is our pleasure to offer this new and improved website for your frequent use.

It is truly amazing how far Internet technology has come in the past decade. When the Town launched its first website back in the mid 1990s during the early days of the Internet, the site consisted of a handful of html pages containing a few bits and pieces of basic information. Today, our new website offers about 120 pages covering virtually every aspect of the Town of Andover, as well as proudly representing the community of Andover to the world. In addition, the new site contains more than 90 downloadable publications, documents, and forms; a lot of external links to other organizations; and a number of interactive “e-Services” that utilize advanced web-based database and content management technologies.

Our staff has spent many hours researching, studying, and replicating the “best practices” of municipal websites from across the Nation. As a result, the new Town website has been specifically designed to meet your needs for convenient, user friendly access to a variety of Town and community-wide information and services. The site’s content and resources have been specially organized in logical, easy-to-find areas for the benefit of our primary customer groups – residents, businesses, and visitors.

Along with the launch of this new portal, the Town has also transitioned to a new web address or "domain"– andoverma.gov – which conforms to the current recommended standards for government organizations. The Town’s old web address (i.e., town.andover.ma.us) will be retained for some time, and will continue to link to the new site. Our website is also now more universally accessible for people with visual impairments, allowing them to change the size of fonts and use mechanical text readers.

Last but not least, since the Internet has made the world a smaller place, and people often receive their first impression of an organization or place through a website, we thought it was important that the look and feel of the new site attempt to reflect the unique character and charm of Andover as a community and place. We think it achieves this goal.

So again, welcome to the Town of Andover’s new website. Please take some time to explore all that it has to offer. If there are additional things you would like to see on the website, please let us know. It is a work in progress. See you on-line!

Very truly yours,

Reginald S. “Buzz” Stapczynski,
Town Manager
