Town of Andover Housing Production Plan 2018-2022

In 2017, the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) was awarded funds from the Commonwealth Community Compact Cabinet andMassHousing to develop the first Regional Housing Plan for the Merrimack Valley. The goal for the plan is to develop a strategy for meeting the housing needs of today and tomorrow’s residents in the region. Using current data, populations projections, and state-of-the-art mapping, MVPC worked collaboratively with each community in the region to understand their housing needs, set goals, and craft appropriate, tailored strategies that address their specific needs over the next five years. The final deliverable for this project is a Regional Housing Plan, with chapters that serve as housing production plans for each of the 15 communities in the Merrimack Valley, including the Town of Andover. MVPC worked with the Town throughout 2017, to collect data, understand local housing conditions and needs, and develop strategies that will meet the needs of residents today and in the future. The result is a comprehensive analysis, set of strategies and user-friendly implementation plan for Andover to follow over the next five years to develop housing for all.
The Planning Board and Andover Housing Partnership Committee have had three meetings to discuss the Housing Plan for Andover, Goals and Strategies. The Boards want your input. The Planning Board 's duties include reviewing certain proposed development projects in Town and making decisions on them in accordance with state and local bylaws. Planning Board members have a variety of backgrounds and volunteer to serve on the Board. They are assisted by a professional staff that work in the Planning Division at the Town Offices during the day.
