WATER FLUSHING UPDATE 9/28/18
Due to the Gas emergency, Water Distribution System Flushing will NOT begin on Sunday, September 30th as originally planned. Please stay tuned for a new start date for this portion of the Flushing Program. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
The purpose of the Distribution System Flushing Program is to improve drinking water quality for residents and businesses.
Flushing will take place in the Central area of Town bounded by Lawrence to the north, Lowell Street and Beacon Street to the west, Tewksbury and Wilmington to the south and High Street, Main Street and Sunset Rock Road to the east. Please view the listing of streets and neighborhoods that may be affected. This list may be updated periodically throughout the project.
Distribution system flushing will take place Sunday – Thursday between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM.
The flushing process may cause discolored water and a reduction in pressure. The discoloration of the water will be temporary. To help alleviate the problem, please run the outside spigot(s) until the water clears. Prior to washing any clothing, please make sure to check your water. If the condition persists, please contact the Public Works Water Division at 978-623-8862 from 7 AM to 3:30 PM or 978-623-8860 after hours.
