Hidden in Plain Sight - Thursday January 19, 2017 7PM to 8PM
Open to adults only, the program uses a recreated bedroom of a typical teenager to test parents' knowledge of common items that can be substance abuse warnings. Andover’s Sobhan Namvar, LICSW, Brian McNally, MEd, and Joe Yarid, LICSW, will lead the information session and offer suggestions for candid dialogue between parents and teens/young adults.
Hidden in Plain Sight is a parent workshop geared to help parents see the risk factors early on and connect and build a strong relationship with their teen early on.
Dr. Barbara Green Medical Director shares the following about Hidden in Plain Sight:
"Hidden in Plain Sight is designed to open parental eyes and encourage honest, forthright, candid dialogue and discussion between parent and teens. The goal is to raise awareness and heighten vigilance but perhaps most importantly, take the steps to help parents and teens forge strong, positive connection with one another. Strong parent-teen relationships and constant, open conversation, are the greatest anti-risk tools available."
Be reassured; This presentation is a "staged room." It is NOT our intention to SCARE you. It is also NOT our intention to make you assume that you would find ALL of these items within one teen's room.
The intention is to provide you with knowledge and support you in parenting a connected family!
