The Towns contractor will be replacing the bricks in 23 crosswalks and associated sidewalk repairs in the Downtown area starting on Thursday, June 1st. The project should be complete by early fall. Please note that the schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. Please check back or subscribe to the Project News category for updates, and for related construction notices which will be posted below.
Crosswalks will be completed on the side streets first, starting with Punchard on Thursday, June 1st. Work will then continue down Main St towards Elm Square. Once the side streets have been completed work will begin on the crossings of Main Street. Upon completion of the installation of new bricks within the existing crosswalks, work will begin on concrete sidewalk spot repairs and wheelchair ramp replacement.
The nature of the work will occasionally necessitate pedestrian and vehicle detours while work is progressing. The motoring public should expect delays as the work proceeds. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work area.
