MAS Building and Bridge, Inc. has been contracted by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to remove and replace the North Main Street (Rte. 28) Bridge over the MBTA / PanAm Railroad. The project involves the complete removal of the bridge decking superstructure and partial removal of both North and South abutment substructures. Please review the executive summary below, updated October 16th, 2017 for the activity schedule and traffic impacts. Please note: Night and weekend work can be expected through various portions of the demolition and reconstruction in order to coordinate with the Railroad entities while working over the tracks.
PROJECT UPDATE 1/26/2018: Please be advised that night work for is slated to resume
Tuesday January 30th, 2018. Working hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. The Contractor will be installing earth supporting anchors along the railroad Right of Way. Night work is required in order to limit impacts to Railroad Operations and to prevent disruptions to service. This work is scheduled for approximately 4-6 weeks, weather dependent. Please note that best efforts will be made to limit noise and lighting disruptions to the surrounding community during this time. The Project Goals are to limit impact to abutters, motorists and pedestrians while completing the work on schedule and on budget.
