Historians and economists often compare the "Gilded Age" (1876 - 1900) to the Nineteen Twenties, and present day-America. This series, led by Don Robb, will explore how the Gilded Age changed America: powerful industrial corporations, a huge influx of immigrants, the growth of great cities, party politics as tense as those of today and the reactions of the American people, rich and poor, to a changing society. A collaboration of Memorial Hall Library and Andover Elder Services/The Senior Center at Punchard.

This unique walking tour will highlight architecture, history, and fun facts about Main Street in a fast-paced, and highly participatory way. Interactive games (anyone for a round of The Price is Right?) and humorous challenges will be played as we explore Main Street’s past.
This might not be your grandma's type of walking tour (you know her better than we do), but we'd be happy if she came too! Participants are encouraged to take photos, bring a sense of humor, and share their experiences via social media. ?Off-Beat Andover Tours are a fun way of bringing people together to learn about the sometimes quirky and unexpected history of Andover, get outside and explore, and have a good laugh.
