Historians and economists often compare the "Gilded Age" (1876 - 1900) to the Nineteen Twenties, and present day-America. This series, led by Don Robb, will explore how the Gilded Age changed America: powerful industrial corporations, a huge influx of immigrants, the growth of great cities, party politics as tense as those of today and the reactions of the American people, rich and poor, to a changing society. A collaboration of Memorial Hall Library and Andover Elder Services/The Senior Center at Punchard.

What is spring migration? Everyone knows that birds arrive, but what about the ones that pass through? The North Shore of Massachusetts has many designated Important Bird Areas, designated because they are vital to migrating birds that use the coast as a key stop during or destination of their annual migrations. This incredible flow of millions of birds represents the biological wealth of our hemisphere, but more than that, the individuals that comprise spring migration are irreplaceable physical links in the ecosystems people depend on well beyond our borders. In a one-hour slide presentation, David Moon, Mass Audubon Sanctuary Director, Joppa Flats Education Center, will show participants where, when, and how birds flow through our region, how to see them, and why they matter.
