E. Dolores Johnson's book Say I’m Dead is a true story of family secrets, separation, courage, and transformation through five generations of interracial relationships. Fearful of prison time—or lynching—for violating Indiana’s anti-miscegenation laws in the 1940s, her black father and white mother fled Indianapolis to secretly marry in Buffalo, New York. E. Dolores Johnson earned degrees from Howard University and Harvard Graduate School of Business. After a career in tech, she took an MFA equivalent course to learn creative writing and now lives in Cambridge, MA.
