Select Board Approves Contract with Incoming Town Accountant
ANDOVER, MA - The Select Board held a brief meeting on Wednesday, December 3 at Memorial Hall Library prior to convening with the Finance Committee and School Committee as a “Tri-Board” to review the recommended Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for FY2027-2031. During the meeting, the Select Board voted to approve a contract with incoming Town Accountant Andrea Dimitriadis, completing a comprehensive process to fill the position. The Board also voted to approve borrowing terms for a snow-fighting vehicle that will be used by the Department of Public Works.
Approval of Contract with New Town Accountant
The Select Board voted to approve a contract with Andrea Dimitriadis to serve as Town Accountant. The approval of the contract came following the Board’s earlier vote on November 21 to appoint Dimitriadis to the position. The contract was negotiated in the following days before being presented to the Board. Dimitriadis will replace Hayley Green, who was recently promoted to Director of Budget & Capital Management.
The Town Accountant is one of two positions directly appointed by the Select Board, along with the Town Manager. Dimitriadis was selected through a comprehensive hiring process that included participation from Alex Vispoli and Ellen Townson as designees from the Select Board, as well as senior staff from the Town Manager’s Office, the Administration & Finance Department, and other Town departments.
Dimitriadis brings extensive experience in accounting and financial leadership across both the private and public sectors. She currently serves as Assistant Finance Director for the Town of Wilmington and previously held executive positions in the mutual fund services industry, including as Executive Director of Financial Reporting and Treasury Operations at JPMorgan Chase. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant College, with concentrations in Finance and International Business
Determination of Useful Life
The Select Board voted to approve a borrowing term of seven years for the purchase of a snow-fighting vehicle for the Department of Public Works (DPW). Under state law, the Board must vote to approve borrowing terms for vehicles or equipment when the repayment period exceeds five years. In this case, the extended term is justified by the DPW’s maintenance and replacement strategy, which anticipates a useful life for the vehicle well beyond seven years.
