Throughout the next several weeks, the Town of Andover will be conducting a survey of residents’ views on local issues. Residents may be contacted by text message or postal mail regarding this survey. These communications will use official Town of Andover seals and branding and should not be considered scams or spam.
The survey is being conducted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell Center for Public Opinion (UML CPO). UML CPO conducted the last two Town surveys in Andover, as well as numerous national, state, and local surveys, and has been praised across the political spectrum for its transparency, accuracy, and quality.
To ensure broad representation, a randomly selected group of households will be contacted directly. Residents who are not contacted may still participate through the publicly available survey link below.

Participation is limited to current residents of the Town of Andover age 16 and older. Contact information used for the survey comes from commercially available address and telephone databases commonly used for public-opinion research.
Participation in the survey is voluntary. Residents who are selected as part of the Town’s sample are encouraged to participate, as responses will help inform Town priorities over the next several years. Survey results may be used to guide decisions by Town boards and committees and by the Town’s administration to improve services and operations. This year’s survey places an emphasis on communications to better understand how residents prefer to receive information about Town news and services.
The questionnaire consists of brief questions and typically takes approximately 12 minutes to complete. This survey has been reviewed by the University of Massachusetts Lowell Institutional Review Board and determined not to constitute human subjects research under federal regulations.
Individual responses will be kept confidential and, if shared with the Town, will not include personally identifiable information. Results will be reported publicly only in summary form.
If you have questions about the survey, a contact you received, or its methodology, please contact John Cluverius, Director of Survey Research at UML CPO, at John_Cluverius@uml.edu.
