April 8, 2026

The construction fences are down and the Haggetts Pond Rail Trail is officially open to the public.
The new trail spans 0.6 miles from Haggetts Pond Road to a scenic overlook offering sweeping views of Haggetts Pond. As Andover’s first ADA-compliant trail, the project represents a major step forward in expanding accessible recreational opportunities and opens one of the community’s great outdoor resources to residents of all abilities.
Parking is available in a new parking area on Haggetts Pond Road across from the trailhead. A rapid flashing beacon has also been installed at the crosswalk to help residents cross safely from the parking area to the trail.
Several finishing touches will be completed over the coming weeks, including the installation of interpretive signage. A formal grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held later in April, but in the meantime, the Haggetts Pond Rail Trail is open and ready to be explored.
