The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Andover and much of Massachusetts, beginning Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 AM. High temperatures and humidity are expected to persist through the coming days, creating potentially dangerous conditions. The Town of Andover is closely monitoring the forecast and will make accommodations as necessary to support residents during this period of extreme heat.
Please note that Memorial Hall Library is closed today in observance of Juneteenth, but will reopen Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM as a cooling location. The Robb Center is also closed today for Juneteenth but will be open Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
To stay safe in extreme heat, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, wear lightweight clothing, and check on elderly neighbors or those with health conditions. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. If you or someone else is experiencing a heat-related emergency, call 911 immediately.
