The I-495 Andover-Lawrence Bridge Replacements Project includes six bridges on I-495. The structures are on I-495 where it follows the Andover-Lawrence border. Beginning in the spring of 2024, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will fully replace all six bridges. Construction will be staged to reduce impacts on abutters and commuters. The project is expected to run roughly four years.
All detours and lane closures will be noticed using the MassDOT project’s website and mass email system. The project will avoid lane closures and detours during peak commuting hours to help keep traffic flowing.

Governor Baker signed An Act Promoting Awareness of Sewage in Public Waters into law. These regulations, 314 CMR 16.00, were promulgated on January 7, 2022, and corrections to the regulations were published and effective on January 21, 2022. This new law will make sure the public knows when untreated sewage flows into Massachusetts waters. This includes certain Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs). The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and the Town of Andover recognizes the importance of notifying the public when untreated sewage is released into our waters.
When a discharge or overflow occurs, Andover DPW will send out a public advisory notification. On business days, this website will be updated within 4 hours of the notification. During nights, weekends, or holidays, this website will be updated on the next business day.
