The Chandler Road Recreation Area is a 44-acre property at 138–140 Chandler Road, adjacent to Interstate 93. The land, sometimes referred to as the “Park Property,” was acquired by Town Meeting in 2022 to expand recreational opportunities for Andover residents. Because the site was previously undeveloped, the Town is advancing its transformation in phases to support thoughtful planning, strong community engagement, and responsible investment. Early conceptual plans envision amenities such as athletic fields and passive recreation areas.
Construction on Phase I, which includes a community garden and small parking area, is nearing completion.
The Town is now beginning the process of designing Phase II of the project, and has hired Activitas, Inc. to support the process. This next stage will include more substantial recreational amenities, shaped by an extensive public engagement process. Resident input will guide decisions on features such as athletic fields, trails, and passive recreation spaces.
Residents are encouraged to share their priorities for Phase II by completing a brief online survey, available through December 14, 2025.
