[ARCHIVED] Mosquito Spraying to be Conducted at Fields on August 13th

In coordination with the Town of Andover, the Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control and Wetlands Management District will conducting an application to control adult mosquitoes on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the evening between the hours of 8:20pm and 12am. In case of inclement weather, the backup date of application would be Wednesday, August 14

The areas to be treated are Shawsheen Field, Sanborn School, Shawsheen School, West Middle School, Andover High School, South Elementary, Balmoral Field, Bancroft Elementary, Doherty Middle School, Wood Hill Middle School and Deyermond Field, Phillips Academy of Andover – 180 Main St.

These fields will be closed beginning at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, August 13 to allow for the application to take place. Use of the fields may resume the following morning.

Please note, this application is strictly preventative and is intended to ensure that fields can continue to be safely used through the late summer and fall. While there has been an increase in West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in the region over recent weeks, no mosquitoes have tested positive in Andover.
