[ARCHIVED] Winter Storm Alert: Parking Ban and Building Closures

Navy Storm Square

The Town of Andover is actively responding to a major winter storm that impacted Andover and the surrounding region on Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26. Snowfall totals across Andover exceed 18 inches, according to most estimates.

Additional snow accumulation is expected Monday evening. Given the magnitude of storm, roadway conditions remain hazardous in some locations as crews continue to work to clear roadways. Residents are urged to remain off roads when possible, and should extreme caution and drive slowly if they must travel.

Parking Ban

A snow emergency parking ban will be in place beginning Sunday, January 25 at 5:00 PM and will remain in effect until further notice. No vehicles may be parked on Town roadways while the parking ban is in place. Vehicles left on roadways may be towed at the owner’s expense. This measure is critical to ensure DPW crews are able to efficiently clear and treat roadways throughout the storm.

andover Public Schools

Andover Public Schools will remain closed on on Tuesday, January 27. All after-school activities have been cancelled.

Town Buildings

All non-emergency Town buildings were closed on Monday, January 26, including Town Offices, the temporary offices at Old Town Hall, Memorial Hall Library, the Robb Center, and the Cormier Youth Center.

Trash Collection

There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, January 26, and collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Hydrants and Catch Basins

Residents are urged to clear catch basis and hydrants around their properties if they are able to do so. Three feet of snow should be cleared in all directions around hyrdants, with a clear path from the road to the hydrant.
