COVID-19 and Snow Removal Impacts of January 7th Storm
As the Public Works Department prepares for the January 7th storm, which is expected to impact the morning commute, we would like to let residents know that due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the Department’s snow-fighting crew is short-staffed due to illness. In addition, many of our contracted snow plowers are short-staffed or unavailable for the same reason.
Due to these vacancies, we anticipate the speed of our snow removal operations to be impacted. Please know that the Department will make every effort to plow all roads and streets as efficiently as possible under these current circumstances.
Please plan ahead for your commute and if possible, stay home or delay traveling until the storm has passed. If you do travel tomorrow, please take extra caution, drive slowly, and have patience. Please also give plows the room they need to work. Though crews will be out clearing roads for the duration of the storm and beyond, please anticipate delays in clearing and treating municipal parking lots and sidewalks.

Stormwater and Debris
Be sure to keep an eye on areas of your property that are prone to flooding, and make sure storm drains are cleared of debris to make way for additional water flow. Please secure outdoor belongings that could be shifted by strong winds including your trash and recycling containers. Republic Services will make every effort to place your containers back close to your property but strong winds may push these containers back off your property.
