The Town of Andover is actively monitoring and preparing for a major winter storm that is expected to bring significant snowfall to our region beginning on Sunday, January 25 and ending later in the day on Monday.
A snow emergency parking ban will be in place beginning Sunday, January 25 at 5:00 PM and will remain in effect until further notice. No vehicles may be parked on Town roadways while the parking ban is in place. Vehicles left on roadways may be towed at the owner’s expense. This measure is critical to ensure DPW crews are able to efficiently clear and treat roadways throughout the storm.
There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, January 26, and collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Forecast models continue to evolve, but many show Andover and the surrounding region receiving accumulation of up to two feet. Snow is likely to accumulate at a high rate at times. Periods of moderate to heavy snowfall are anticipated throughout the evening and early nighttime hours on Sunday. Roadway conditions may quickly deteriorate and travel will be dangerous at times. Residents are urged to stay off roadways if possible.
Updates regarding Town operations and storm response, along with important safety tips, will be available at andoverma.gov/storm.
Residents are urged to clear catch basis and hydrants around their properties if they are able to do so. Three feet of snow should be cleared in all directions around hyrdants, with a clear path from the road to the hydrant.
