[ARCHIVED] Winter Storm Alert: Parking Ban and Building Closures

The Town of Andover is continue to respond  to a major winter storm that impacted Andover and the surrounding region on Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26. Snowfall totals across Andover exceed 18 inches, according to most estimates. 

The Department of Public Works is also planning to conduct an overnight snow removal operation in Downtown Andover in the coming days. Additional details will be provided to the community once confirmed.

Parking Ban

A snow emergency parking ban will be in place beginning Sunday, January 25 at 5:00 PM and will remain in effect until further notice. As of Tuesday, January 27, the parking ban remains in effect.

No vehicles may be parked on Town roadways while the parking ban is in place. Vehicles left on roadways may be towed at the owner’s expense. This measure is critical to ensure DPW crews are able to efficiently clear and treat roadways throughout the storm.

andover Public Schools

Andover Public Schools will remain closed on on Tuesday, January 27. All after-school activities have been cancelled.

Town Buildings

Town buildings including Town Offices, temporary offices at Old Town Hall, the Robb Center, Memorial Hall Library, and the Cormier Youth Center will have a delayed opening on Tuesday, January 27. Town buildings will open at 10:00 AM. 

Trash Collection

There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, January 26, and collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Hydrants and Catch Basins

Residents are urged to clear catch basis and hydrants around their properties if they are able to do so. Three feet of snow should be cleared in all directions around hyrdants, with a clear path from the road to the hydrant.
