The Town of Andover is continue to respond to a major winter storm that impacted Andover and the surrounding region on Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26. Snowfall totals across Andover exceed 18 inches, according to most estimates.
The Department of Public Works is also planning to conduct an overnight snow removal operation in Downtown Andover in the coming days. Additional details will be provided to the community once confirmed.
Overnight Downtown snow clearing
Andover Public Works will be conducting an overnight snow removal operation in Downtown Andover beginning on Wednesday, January 28 at 11:00 PM. Crews will be removing and hauling snow offsite to widen roads, sidewalks, and parking areas to ensure that surfaces throughout Downtown are safe for residents and visitors.
Please avoid the Downtown area while this operation is in progress to provide space for snow removal vehicles and equipment to operate. Vehicles should not be left in Downtown municipal parking lots tonight, as crews will need full access to plow and clear these areas.
Parking Ban
A snow emergency parking ban is in place as of Sunday, January 25 at 5:00 PM and will remain in effect until further notice.
No vehicles may be parked on Town roadways while the parking ban is in place. Vehicles left on roadways may be towed at the owner’s expense. This measure is critical to ensure DPW crews are able to efficiently clear and treat roadways throughout the storm.
andover Public Schools
Regular school hours have resumed for Andover Public Schools as of Wednesday, January 28.
Town Buildings
Regular business hours have resumed at all Town buildings.
Trash Collection
There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, January 26, and collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Hydrants and Catch Basins
Residents are urged to clear catch basis and hydrants around their properties if they are able to do so. Three feet of snow should be cleared in all directions around hyrdants, with a clear path from the road to the hydrant.
